Boulder is located at the base of the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Boulder is the home rule municipality that is the county seat and the most populous municipality of Boulder County. Boulder County is home to more than 300,000 residents and includes some of the most diverse, natural landscapes and sustainable development along the Northern Front Range of Colorado.
With its love of fresh air, fresh food and fresh thinking, it’s not hard to see why Boulder earned the title the Happiest City in the U.S. by National Geographic. Fondly referred to as “the city nestled between the mountains and reality,” Boulder is just 30 minutes from Denver but feels like an escape from the everyday.
In 1967, Boulder became the first city in the U.S. to tax itself for funds to be used specifically for the acquisition and preservation of open space. Today, there are 45,000 acres of unspoiled outdoor beauty for visitors to explore via 300 miles of hiking and biking trails. Boulder has so much to offer, it’s no wonder that people here are considered to be among the happiest in the country.
If there’s one thing that Coloradans love to boast about it, it’s the 300 days of sunshine they experience every year. Boulder has a relatively moderate climate, and its low humidity keeps the sky clear and blue. Of course, there is plenty of snow in wintertime but in Boulder it tends to melt astonishingly quickly from all the sun!
The Pearl Street Mall is a four-block pedestrian mall that provides some of the best people-watching on the planet. Along with the many interesting characters abound, there are also plenty of cool shops, and some very talented street performers. Pearl Street/downtown Boulder also offers a fun and diverse nightlife. |
